Beltane is the fifth of the eight pagan sabbats of the year. it celebrates teh rebrith of corbs and the arrival of spring. the lord and lady rejoin and marry once more! a fertility rite to those old enough an mature enough, a woman and man are most likely to be blessed with child on this day (April 30, May 1). also known as May Day, this is one of my favoritie holidays of the year, next to winter solstice and Samhein.

there is usually a lot of games and things, but i have to say that my favorite is the maypole dance. when i was little, this day was a lot more fun, because of the spring games. now that i am a little older, it has more significance to me. in the eyes of my religous community, i am practically a 'woman'. my fellows think that i should at least get a boyfriend.. <<'.... while i respect the traditions, i'm not exactly into following through with to the letter. i think i'll just be married on Beltane of Winter Solstice, so that my kids will have kick-ass birthdays!
